Building Trust Through Traceability in Every Drop of Palm Oil

The supply chain is an important part of our business operations. As you are already experiencing, companies are becoming more connected. An integrated supply chain is not a necessity; it's a strategic advantage. It provides you the transparency, efficiency, and control that your business may demand.

Our integrated palm oil supply chain offers full traceability from the plantation to your application. You can verify the origin of palm oil, which ensures it comes from sustainable sources. This reduces the risk of false sustainability claims.

Shaping the Future of Palm Oil

Why Sustainability and Compliance Are Non-Negotiable?

Sustainability is not a passing trend. It's a way of doing business that supports long-term success. The approach encourages new ideas, meets stakeholder needs, and upholds ethical values. There are many benefits to emphasizing sustainable palm oil practices.

The most important are:

Environmentally Conscious

Sustainable palm oil practices often align with long-term business health. By considering environmental and social impacts, your company can avoid potential future costs. Consider a scenario where a company relies on sources that cause harm to forests and people. As a consequence, the company may lose customers who focus on sustainability. Sustainable sourcing can mitigate this. SD Guthrie follows regulations and is ready to adopt any necessary ethical practices.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation

Governments and international bodies are implementing regulations about sustainability and ethical business practices. For example, the new EU deforestation regulation (EUDR) can become active in 2026. By selecting us, you can maintain a competitive edge and steer clear of disruptive supply.

Reputation & Brand Value

Focusing on sustainability can differentiate you from your competitors. Customers are more likely to stay loyal to brands that reflect their values. Your company's concern for the environment and people is commendable. Customers feel positive and support it. Such an attitude can increase customer loyalty. Besides, they are more likely to recommend the brand to others.

Stakeholder Expectations

Stakeholders, including investors, employees, and customers, expect companies to operate sustainably. Investors want to put money in companies that will still thrive in the future. One reason is that more consumers choose brands that care about the planet and people. Such behavior supports the long-term profitability of a company.

Our Certifications: Proof of Commitment of Our Sustainable Practices

You must understand sustainable palm oil. In simple terms, it's palm oil produced without harming the environment. Additionally, it upholds the rights of laborers and nearby communities. This approach contrasts with conventional palm oil production. That often involves deforestation, land degradation, and social injustices.

Our social responsibility is to ensure fair wages and safe working conditions. Next, we respect workers' rights on certified estates. Additionally, our workers take part in the decision-making processes. This guarantees the recognition of their voices and the protection of their rights.

SD Guthrie's sustainable palm oil practice addresses these issues.

SD Guthrie's Smallholder Engagement for Sustainable Palm Oil Practices

Smallholder Engagement for Sustainable Palm Oil Farming

We engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Our stakeholders range from farmers to consumers, NGOs, and governments. We work with our business partners. Together, we achieve our targets for sustainable development. We commit ourselves to creating jobs in remote rural areas. Furthermore, we enhance community services and provide support to local smallholder farmers.

Our smallholder program educates local farmers on beneficial agricultural practices and sustainable farming. As a result, these independent farmers gain access to the international market. There, they receive a fair price for their goods. Our European palm oil supply chain includes over 17,000 local growers. All these growers have been certified by the RSPO since 2012.
